Apparently, if you talk while your Samsung smart TV is being controlled through voice activation then more than just your commands may be sent to Samsung or third parties.
Samsung is warning customers about discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.

The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.

When the feature is active, such TV sets "listen" to what is said and may share what they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said.

Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell's 1984, which spied on citizens.

No tech company has ever listened to what I have to say. I don't think I know the keywords to express myself properly.

I've got one of those about fifteen feet from me right now. When we first set it up, I tried to connect it to the Wi-Fi and failed. Probably due to an upper/lower case problem. Then I wondered why I wanted to connect it anyway. So I've left it "dumb". It's still smarter than my cable company, which managed to scramble about half its channels last night.

Amazing! My grandmother was right after all, when she'd tell us not to make comments during Bonanza, because Ben Cartwright might hear us.
She was ahead of her time!

That's funny! thanks for sharing.

Anyways...when I was a small child, I would not walk in front of a TV naked for fear that the people in "TV Land" might see me!

Just what everyone needs, a TV that's also a gossip and a busybody.

Could be worse. It could start policing your speech.

"Excuse me? You said WHAT? That term is wholly unacceptable! I am offended!"

Even worse than that... your TV starts going all HAL on you.

"I'm sorry, Dave, but I'm afraid I can do that."
