Does the Illuminati even exist?

I really have to wonder. What with conspiracy theorists using it as a universal scapegoat for all the world's problems, and saying "It was THEM" to cover their tracks when they can't explain one of their bogus theories, I get suspicious.

It seems that there WAS an "Illuminati" at once point in time. But do they still exist?

I ask this honestly because I have not seen one shred of evidence that any "Illuminati" is still in existence today, and every time I ask for such evidence I get called a "sheeple" and am told to "do [my] own research".

Well here I am telling you all that I HAVE done my research (not just Wikipedia ), and I have not found any evidence that this Illuminati is any more real than the Loch Ness Monster.
