Does Rush speak for the GOP?

I agree. It's sad that no Republican politician will actualy disagree with Rush on anything.

Why are Republican politicians unable to disagree with Rush? Is it because they are afraid, or because they agree?

I propose a third option: they don't care about him nearly as much as you do.

Put another way: Their not disagreeing with him is just as consistent with his views not being important in their view, as it consistent with his views being supremely important in their view. I know this may be hard for you to understand, since obviously Rush's views are supremely important in your view.

And speaking of your view, put a third way: what's the point, since even if they do you'll just call them liars anyway?

Many GOP politicians have been asked the question. So it's not a matter of care, it's a matter of integrity. Nice try. I'm glad to see 1 conservative that is embarrassed about Rush. Thanks.

Because someone openly disagreeing with a nut only matters if one is on the opposing side. Like that crazy ass preacher the conservatives were up in arms about .

Yes, evidenced by the apologies trotted out by members of the GOP who dare to question the great gasbag.

I did not waste time watching the whole 6 minutes but the clip was of Limbaugh claiming the BP 20B fund was a slush find and the method used to get it was a shakedown. Didn't a lot of republicans come out against that view?

How often do you hear Democrats publically disagreeing with Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow etc?

Ithink some did originally but it seems quite a few have embraced that exact viewpoint since then.

Neither Matthews nor Maddow seem to carry the clout that Limbaugh enjoys. It appears that candidates within the GOP are afraid of losing the Limbagh vote so are quick to smooth over any problems between them. Hence, we get to see GOPers who dared disagree with Limbaugh walk back their statements usually within a couple of days. It really is kind of humorous and we just don't see anything similar on the DNC side.

Limbaugh does have a lot of followers and they are politically active.

As much as I dislike much of what Gen George Patton stood for, he did make an occassional observation that should be taken to heart. One of his famous quips was that "If everybody is thinking alike, somebody isn't thinking."

Democratic strategy sessions, caucuses and conventions are a cat round-up, but we usually get the important stuff done, after listening to all the opinions and concerns of participants. We like to at least feel that we have considered all the options, including those which require that we make some sacrifices ourselves. This is why we can tolerate Joe Liebermann (at least to the extent of not buring down his campaign office while he is inside over the crap he has pulled on us.)

As for the GOP, uniformity is everything. A posturing monkey like the lardblob is just what they need to keep everybody thinking the Republicant way.

Democrats have disagreed with the MSNBC pundits, and they've even done so during interviews on those shows.

Rush's stance on BP is a good example. When Barton spewed his nonsense, most of the GOP said "that's not us." Today, however, most of them are with Rush and Barton on this issue.

How can they disagree with Rush? That band rocks! Even their latest song rocks, after all this time. Sure, they're slowing down, running out of awesome ideas even as their playing improves. Sure, the idiots that be won't put them in the RaRHoF. But they have 22 gold records. That's all their records except this last one, only because it's just been released.

This. I don't think anyone really gives a crap about Limbaugh himself; he's a radio host, not a cult leader. He does, however, have a following. Considering the faction fights and leadership vacuum in the GOP these days, I can't see any Republican politicians wanting to alienate a potential part of their base.

Limbaugh is just used to living in the limelight. A real working man wouldn't listen to his crap and use their free will.

I know he doesn't speak for me.
In fact, whenever I hear him on a radio, I whip out my .45 and double-tap the speaker he's coming from...:D
