Does DVD R/W also = CD R/W?

I see some of the "better" / more featured PCs with DVD-R/W but not CD-R/W drives. wtfo? Can you do both w/a DVD drive??

You can with all the models I'm aware of.

Yeah, I've yet to see one that didn't include CD burning features. Of course, they COULD not include the CD frequency laser in the unit and just have a DVD laser, but that wouldn't sell well.

I haven't seen a DVD R/RW that wan't also a CD R/RW, though I have seen ads that don't specify

I have yet to seea DVD burner that will not burn CDs as well.

Just be sure of the format you get so you get the right discs. I assumed that DVD-R was the same as a CD-R (write once). But there is also DVD+R and DVD+-RW, which does both.

Some DVD players only read the plus or minus format.
