Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love Daron. A blogger catches an interesting series of posts by a big Ron Paul supporter after the New Republic story on Ron Paul's racist and homophobic newsletter breaks. He starts out with a pang of conscience, but within a few hours he's toeing the party line even though it's pretty obvious that he doesn't believe it.

"We need something to use and it seems claiming they are all faked by TNR is the best approach."

I particularly like post #196:

"All we got now is the signatures, but the point is to repeat it over and over. we can make that thought a reality."

If that sounds a tad familiar, it's because it closely resembles Joseph Goebbel's famed quote:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

I actually read ronpaulforums.com quite frequently, particularly the forum section "Bad Media Reporting on Ron Paul" where the thread Daron was posting in originated. TNR's investigation into the Ron Paul newsletters was only the latest battle in the campaign Paul's most fervent supporters have waged to blockade, misinform, obscure or otherwise obfuscate information on congressmen Paul.

Religions take full advantage of this. Of course, it could be a big lie or a little lie, or a half-truth. The point is to repeat it over and over again, and eventually it will become commonly accepted.
