Dirty Bomb Terror Threat?

I caught this story while getting ready for work this morning:

Airport police are stopping cars entering both the departure and arrival levels on the premise that they're speeding over the 20 mph limit.
But officers are not giving out tickets. Instead, they give a warning.
But as the warning is given, a TSA worker with gamma neutron detector walks around the car, checking for radioactivity. And federal air marshals inspect the car for anything suspicious.

That seems an oddly specific thing to be looking for. I can't help but wonder if Homeland Security is acting on specific intelligence, or if they are just showing off their toys to a news crew, a la "Look, we really are fighting terrorism!"

I have never heard of anything called a gamma neutron, and have no idea how you would detect it. I have, however, heard of neutrons, and of gamma rays, and detectors for both. Silly journalists.
