Director of Intelligence, Chairman of Joint Chiefs out, Nazi in at NSC

Susan Rice said:
"This is stone cold crazy. After a week of crazy. Who needs military advice or intell to make policy on ISIL, Syria, Afghanistan, DPRK?"

"Trump loves and trusts the military so much he just kicked them out of the National Security Council and put a Nazi in their place."

That about sums it up quite nicely. Canada needs a southern wall far more than the US does. You guys are nuts to have put him in office.

Can't wait to hear how Obama did something similar when taken out of context and thrown through the mud of propaganda and how this will be handwaved away.

You know what worries me the most in that article?

In two separate measures, the president ordered:

[...]

A preliminary plan by the secretary of defence to defeat so-called Islamic State (IS) to be presented within 30 days

Especially taken in context with all the things he's said about nuclear weapons over the last year or so.

Jesus Christ on a ************* Ritz cracker. This is intolerable. People in positions of paramount importance to the security of the US replaced by arrogant ideologues. But the acronym still works, doesn't it? I give you the National Sycophants Council. ☹️

Trump sees Bannon as a generational peer who shares his anti-establishment instincts and confrontational style. According to several people familiar with their relationship, Bannon has cultivated a rapport with Trump over security issues in recent months, and impressed Trump with his grasp of policy in talks they have held together with top intelligence and military officials.

The new president relies on Bannon to ensure that his campaign promises and nationalist worldview are being followed and are shaping national security strategy. Trump’s approval of Bannon’s new role is seen inside the White House as the formalization of a dynamic that has already been at work for weeks, these people said.

Hey Trump trusts this man and he won the election god dammit so we should all just shut up okay? He's going to make America great again whether you like it or not and this brilliant intellectual is going to assist in it. Show some respect for your new lord and master.

This entire situation is untenable.

The CJCS and the DNI (despite his relative inexperience with intelligence work), along with the SECDEF, are the people who absolutely MUST be on the National Security Council. They are the people with the direct line to the intelligence analysts and have the best handle on what is going on in the world relating to national security. Bannon has zero experience in that regard and also doesn't have the direct line to the intel analysts (nor should he, given his current position).

Every day that goes by I keep expecting Trump to hit the bottom of his lunacy, and every day I'm disappointed. Can we please just impeach him and get it over with? I'm almost willing to put up with Mike Pence for four years just to get rid of Trump; it's that bad.

One thing I often heard from Trumpistas during the campaign was that the Generals&co. won't let Trump go seriously crazy with nukes etc., basically calling for a coup-d'etat as a means of checks-and-balances.
Excluding the Director of Intelligence plus Joint Chiefs almost forces them to form a Cabal, if only to provide a united front against a seriously misguided policy.

Pence would be awful for America, but he won't destroy the world with war.

1) That's what Pence and his even nastier but smarter about it band of deplorables want you to think. Trump is a diversion at this point. To wit: "Hey! Look at what crazy/stupid/hateful thing Trump is doing now!" Meanwhile they kill Social Security, etc and divy up the trust monies in more tax cuts.

2)It isn't just the DNI I'm worried about on the intel side. Trump's "new room with no columns" comments sound suspiciously like a purge is coming there too.

Trump= anti-Christ.

But I heard a guy 20 years ago basically saying the same about Bill Clinton. Just how many Antichrists are running around in this country, anyway?

(I'd say the real one is Mike Pence, but the A/C is supposed to have charisma.)

Having the director of propaganda on there is vitally important of course.

U.S. commando killed in Yemen operation

WASHINGTON — One U.S. commando was killed and three others were wounded in a fierce firefight early Sunday with al-Qaida militants in central Yemen, the military said on Sunday. It was the first counterterrorism operation authorized by President Donald Trump since he took office, and the commando was the first U.S. service member to die in the yearslong shadow war against al-Qaida’s Yemen affiliate.

This is why we need uniformed professionals in these rolls, not internet trolls.
