Is anyone familiar with the machines that scan mircofilm and put the information in a PDF file? I've contacted a few libraries in Southern California (UCLA for example) to see if they have the means to do this, and have heard no replies. I have 3 full rolls of really rare information for 2 weeks, and would like to have a full copy of the film. Since it is rare and on loan, I can't send it away to have this done, so I am hoping to spend the time doing it myself-- going page-by-page to do this is no problem. If anyone has any information about this for Southern California, please let me know.

Here's some links on what I would like to use: http://www.scandataimaging.com/lowcostmicrofilmscanner.htm

I live at the other end of the country, so can't help you on local availability, etc. If this is time sensitive and you can't find a microfilm scanner like the ones described in time, you might inquire at local pro photo processors, to see if they can either copy the film itself, or scan it to CD as images as if it were a regular roll of film. You could at least print the JPG images or read them off the screen, and perhaps find a way to convert them to PDF's later.
