Here's the deal...

I'm willing to do a bus tour of Death Valley at TAM on that Thursday or Sunday. It's expensive, so I'll only do it if I know there are people who are going to come. We will see amazing things, including where we control our drones from, where some of Star Wars was shot, a ghost town, a Manson hang out, and many of us will probably die.

If you're at all interested, please click this link, and if you're STILL interested, take the poll at the bottom. I'll use that to decide whether I can do this or not.

Thanks!

Oh... because the sweat will evaporate fast and you won't realize how fast you are dehydrating. Until it no longer matters anyway.

I'd like to go but I can't answer until I have reached my TAM fundraising goal over at SFN. If I reach my goal.

Newbie to the forum here, and I'm jumping both feet in! Happy to say that I'll be attending TAM for the first time - and given how expensive it is for me to fly over from Finland, I don't imagine I'll be a regular attendee. Better make the most of it then. :)

Would be glad to go on the bus tour, if it's on Thursday. Don't know how I feel about missing the Sunday presentations though, so i voted "only on Thursday". I may be persuaded otherwise though - I've got no TAM experience to tell me what I'll be missing.

Oh, and I'll be posting on the TAM roll call thread too, once I've booked flights and the hotel, hopefully either tomorrow or early next week at the latest. Still have some scheduling things to work out. Anyway, since I'm coming half way across the world, I might as well stay a little longer than the conference days.

Update:

College of Curiosity going to Death Valley, and you can come!
And it's free, but you'll need to your own vehicle or bum a ride from someone.
Thursday, July 16th. Leaving from Tropicana at 8AM. You will miss workshops at TAM.
Reminder, this event is not associated with JREF or TAM. It is open to all.

Hmmm.... I'm kinda thinking I might skip this one after all - I've got so much planned for my Vegas/TAM trip already, and given that I'm currently on an epic quest to lose weight and get into better shape, I think I might spend at least some of that Thursday torturing myself in the "fitness center" at the hotel.

I'm not expecting to lose weight in Vegas, I'm just hoping not to gain too much. Epic quest might hit a speed bump at TAM, I'm afraid. :boxedin:

Death Valley is a sauna. Run a couple miles when you get out there, you'll lose 10 pounds in 1 day.

Instead of a bus tour, rent a 4 wheel SUV or similar vehicle. My son and I went to see the moving stones at the Playa in Death Valley from Vegas on one trip there to see the Leonids meteor storm and that's what we did. It was great, and if more than one person goes in on the rental, I'd bet it would be cheaper than the bus tour.

I bet it would be too. Vehicles that hold 6 people are generally cheaper to rent than vehicles that hold 20.
