This one is not going to end well for the Democrats.

Democrats charged Tuesday that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on harsh interrogation techniques in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.

“I think there is so much embarrassment in some quarters [of the CIA] that people are going to try to shift some of the responsibility to others — that’s what I think,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was briefed on interrogation techniques five times between 2006 and 2007.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, said he finds it “interesting” that a document detailing congressional briefings was released just as “some of the groups that have been responsible for these interrogation techniques were taking the most criticism.”

Asked whether the CIA was seeking political cover by releasing the documents, Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said: “Sure it is.”

So the Dems are upset that this gets released right after they pressure Obama to criminally prosecute them?

It sucks when the designated scapegoat doesn't lie down for the slaughter.

Dipsticks. <---- euphemism for word I can't say here.

it's especially delisious coming from "Leaky" Leahy.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy last Wednesday warned Senate Republicans that if they do not back an independent commission to investigate George W. Bush Administration’s detainee interrogation program, he will launch his own committee investigation.

“If we can’t get a bipartisan commission to do this then we’ll do it in the usual way,” said Leahy, who is affectionately known in Washington as “Leaky” Leahy because of his propensity for leaking secret information to the news media.

Leahy’s habit of leaking secrets for his own political agenda caused his removal from his vice-chairmanship of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

So, CIA plays dirty, and Demorats aren't allowed to object, according to the insanely right wing?

Figures.

No, it's more like "CIA plays dirty, with the apporoval of top Dems. Then when the political winds change the Dems want to prosecute everyone but themselves".

If Bush Admin. officials and CIA officials should be prosecuted, so should Pelosi and Jay Rockefeller.

You sure you can read all that in? Seriously, I think there's probably room to say both parties here are at blame..

That is just silly. Only one party can ever be to blame.

Of course I am not sure what they should have done at the time, the only moral thing for them would have been to leak this at the time they first heard it, it seems. To torture people is fine, the true moral burden lies with those who hear about it, not those who do it.

This one is not going to end well for the Democrats.

If this plays out, it's not going to end well for a few people. Let the chips fall where they may. If the prospect of some Dems going down will get the wingnuts on board, all the better.
