Dear Google: You're beginning to get annoying!

Now, every once in a while, I will enter my gmail and instead of showing me my inbox, it redirects me to this "google accounts" page with a stupid face and a bunch of options, not a single one of those options allows me to check my e-mail. So I'll sign out, and back in but nothing. It's still the same stupid page. So I have to close the browser and re-open it again. Talk about annoying, huh?

It seems to be related to the whole mess that youtube created when they associated themselves with google, because last time it happened, I remembered I had logged in to youtube. However, this time I loaded youtube again to sign out, and I'm already showing as logged out.

Nevermind, I already found a link that redirects me to gmail :D

Well.... talk about a thread dying fast

Google has been annoying.. i lost about 7,000 bucks to google checkout and they refused to give me a phone # of someone to talk to and then i could never get ahold of a rep for google adwords either.. and i had about 4k/month spend on that.. guess i'm too small for them.

Their verizon "Deal" is fishy though..

bad google bad google

lots of google annoyances for me hehe

Google's coming close to violating their unoffical motto. If they haven't already.

Google is the new Apple. *sob*

I hate how they have completely ruin the Image search. Is there any way to get the old Image search back?

Not only is the new layout annoying (you have to point at each picture to see the dimensions and they removed the file size completely!!! arghhh1!!!!)

....but many times only the "page 1" section will be relevant and the others will be way off base (this may happen when I use quotes, and only "page 1" is acknowledging that... but I'm not sure).

ETA: This never happened with the old image search. It would eventually get less relevant, but not exactly on a page change.....

Although I find their new image search format nice it feels bizarre.... I do kinda miss doing a page to page thing :\

There's a button on the left (at the bottom of the sidebar) where you can turn on the pixel size of the picture in the preview thumbnails. But, yeah, the new search is annoying. Mostly because it seems to be flash-based, and on my Mac with Safari quite often slows down tremendously.

Doesn't seem be changed at google.ca yet.

Give them time I suppose.

Recent changes at the Google USA NEWS site are not an improvement IMHO. If I try to set my preferences to get the old two column format, I can't get back to the Canadian NEWS site without jumping through hoops.

Is nothing in the World ever good enough? :(

Yes, at the bottom of an Image Search page there is a link to the Basic Version. Google is indeed getting annoying with their sudden unannounced interface changes. They should know by now that changing what people have come to love about them isn't going to get them more popular.

Hotmail is pulling the same ********. Instead of logging me straight onto my mail account, it goes to a sort of front page with ads and general MSN stuff, and a small link that takes me to my hotmail account:rolleyes:.

Are you kidding. That's one of the few improvements because you can better see what you are getting with less wasted window opening.

To each his own I guess.

My my suspicion against marketing is making me trust less and less the Google search results are honestly still the most looked at sites. I swear there is commercial creep into the top hits that are not marked as "sponsored sites".

I suspect, like with EBay, they don't care. There must be some advantage that overrides the degree of upset people get. Like there's no real competition so what do they care?

Maybe with the new image page they can collect more data about which images you linger over but don't open. That would be my guess.

The new image search copies the way Bing shows results - in a perpetual scroll.
But I only had the new Google image results showing a few times then it went back to the old way without me doing anything. It doesn't make any difference if I'm logged in or not.
Anyone know how to get/keep the new image search results function?

It seems to shift back and forth pretty arbitrarily on my end, too.
:tries: Yup, now it's back to the old version.

EDIT: Wait, wait, wait, did you say "perpetual scroll"? As in no Page 1, Page 2, Page 20, etc., just a seemingly infinitely long single page that's revealed little by little?

If so, I've had enough of that ******* from YouTube and Facebook to stand it from Google, too. Seriously, it makes searching nearly impossible. Let's say I want to look up a funny conversation I had a year ago with a friend on Facebook. I can't do a search for key words. I can't "go to page 17". I can't go to August 2009. Apparently the only thing I can do is hit the "Show more" link at the bottom of her profile, revealing, little by little and oh-so-slowly, her history back to that date. Not only would this take an eternity, it would also show down my browser to a crawl because of all the content it would be forced to show simultaneously. In other words, it's impossible.

This forum has an extensive search feature, why can't Facebook?

There are still page numbers but they scroll down after the batches rather than having to click across as it were.

I'm with you, I much prefer the new image search format.
