If you're an NPR fan, Science Friday is a long-running and excellent interview show on all sorts of scientific topics.

They've been advertising Dawkins on today's show.

Sadly, My local affiliate didn't carry the show. The Columbia station carried it but here in the north-west corner of South Carolina the signal was drowned out by some fundamentalist Christian station. Arrgh! I'll check tomorrow to see if there's a transcript available.

I believe you can listen to almost all NPR programs in streaming-audio format, or podcast.

A point I thought should have been made was when the host was playing clips of the scientist/believer (can't recall the name...) who essentially attributed the "admirable" qualities of human beings to the supernatural.
This is common amongst religious types; altruism, self-sacrifice, and other "good" things must come from God...

Why can't these things just be part of human nature? There is adequate evolutionary basis for altruism, cooperation, and self-sacrifice.

I wish Dawkins did live debates against ID proponents.

Oh you mean like in that scene from The Root of All Evil..
Dawkins and a preacher in a room.

Preacher bares teeth.
P: Some people think it's stupid to look at something like the eye and to say it came about by pure chance.
D: Who thinks that? No one thinks that the eye came about by chance. Can you tell me the name of one respected evolutionist who thinks that?

Preacher bares teeth again.
P:There you go again with that arrogance.

*Next scene*
Preacher drives up

P: Getorfamylchurch!You'returningmypeopleintomonkeys!I'llhaveyouarrestedfortrespass!

Preacher drives off
Dawkin's voice over: After much deliberation we worked out what he was trying to say...
