David G. McAfee really impresses me with his mild-mannered atheism and skepticism.

A bit of background from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_G._McAfee

David Gregory McAfee (February 23, 1989) — known as David G. McAfee — is an American author, journalist and religious studies graduate.[1] McAfee has been cited as one of the new writers bringing new, mainstream books about atheism to the mass market.[2]

He's written two books:

  • Disproving Christianity and Other Secular Writings
  • Mom, Dad, I'm an Atheist: The Guide to Coming out as a Non-Believer

His Facebook page is a constant stream of discussions with believers and ex-believers, and a day doesn't seem to go by without a story from a reader who has begun to think more critically due to McAfee's efforts.

I highly recommend "following" him. While I haven't read his books, I've read enough quotes from it and recommendations to know that they are helpful to others. He's also on Twitter: @DavidGMcAfee

He impresses me for tackling big issues with compassion and reason. He's never rude to his readers, despite being insulted by trolls and the credulous.

He often gets criticised by atheists who are conspiracy theorists for urging skepticism towards their pet delusions (they think he should stick to atheism), and his replies are gentle and logical.

I hope to see even more big things from this young man, and I just wanted to share this with those who haven't had the pleasure of his work.

I hope my gushing review hasn't put you off. :o :)

He also strives to arm rational-minded people with key facts to challenge Christian dogmatism wherever it arises. Using logical evidence as well as passages from the Old and New Testaments, McAfee establishes new arguments against the validity of the Christian religion. He also strives to reorganize and reevaluate some of the more traditional debates between atheists and Christians. Through a scholarly analysis of the biblical texts, McAfee uncovers previously unknown contradictions in modern Christian teachings and why these reveal problems with the founding pillars of Christianity itself.[7][8][9]

OK, is it just me, or does this read like an advertisement?

I guess it is sort of advertising, unless there's a better word. Perhaps "recommendation" might suit what I intended this thread to be.

If I get time, I'll post a number of recent recommendations from his readers.

I'm inclined to think that they show that at least one person is able to "reason someone out of something they weren't reasoned into".
