Maybe Im living in a bag or this is old news or a hoax, but did the Pope actually say that even those who dont believe in Christ could go to "heaven" if they led a just life a while back? If this is true isn't that considered blasmphemy to the fundies?

Keep in mind that, to the non-Catholic fundies, the Pope has no religious authority - and to the Catholics his word is God's and so technically he can't blaspheme.
