My roommate just got a contract to do some translation and needs to type in cyrillic...

Anyone know how to do this in Microsoft Word? I'm expecting to pick up a second keyboard for her to use, but don't know how to set up Word to use the characters... Or would such a keyboard come with software to set up with?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Thanks. Been crawling through microsoft's site for an hour trying to find the link that says "click here to find out what we're talking about" instead of "click here to go to another page that links back to this one and doesn't actually explain what we're talking about".

To add a new keyboard layout, go to Regional and language options in Control panel. Then select the Language tab and click the Details button. There you can add a new layout such as Russian. This new layout can then be selected with a combination of keys (I use Alt Shift) and used in any app you wish.
If you don't like the layout, you'll have to create your own. To do this you'll first need to install something called Microsoft NET (dotnetfx.exe) if you haven't got it already.
Then you install a layout creator (MSKLC.exe).
You can then assign cyrillic characters to simlilar sounding english keys.
If it's Bulgarian your friend is translating to then i have a layout i've created myself that I can email.

Hope this helps

Cool. I found the settings which has a default layout. Have to wait for her to set her own layout (I don't know cyrillic from chinese, myself). As far as I know, she'll be using wantingwhat ever the basic russian setup would be... Thanks much for the guidance.
