An interesting take in the NYT (today):

This cult attaches itself to a political cause but parasitically strangles it. The death cult has strangled the dream of a Palestinian state. The suicide bombers have not brought peace to Palestine; they've brought reprisals. The car bombers are not pushing the U.S. out of Iraq; they're forcing us to stay longer. The death cult is now strangling the Chechen cause, and will bring not independence but blood.

But that's the idea. Because the death cult is not really about the cause it purports to serve. It's about the sheer pleasure of killing and dying.

Interesting to call a spade a spade. And the media's failure to address it.

As for the Palestinian causes...that and getting ticked off when an army comes in and bulldozes your neighbor's home and you don't have a tank to fight back with so you strap some explosives on your chest.

I think it has a lot more to do with desperation and revenge than taking pleasure in killing. And the religious indoctrination that helps to justify the killing doesnt help either.

Suicide bombing restaurants and buses predates Israel's policy of bulldozing homes by eight years. That is why Israel started bulldozing homes in 2002, because families were being rewarded by Saddam and the Palestinian Authority for any "martyrs" killed or injured in attacks upon Israel.

You got that wrong for a start

Oh, that's OK then, Mycroft.

It's just their local right wing loony, who actually thinks terrorism is evil or something.

The NYT it will probably be back to its scheduled "uderstanding the motives" and "investigating the root causes" of the "activists"/"warriors"/"fighters"/"we'll call them anything except 'terrorists'" who shoot schoolchildren in the back in a day or two.

The "paper of record" has no testicles.

The first suicide bombing occured on April 13, 1994 in Hadera. Five people were killed by a Hamas suicide bomber. Your "Guardian" story clearly states;
Israel says it is demolishing homes close to this border to prevent gunmen taking cover there and weapons being smuggled into Gaza.
Which has nothing to do with my point regarding bulldozing suicide bombers homes. Your link is in reference to the Palestinian Authority allowing terrorists to use civilian areas for cover and concealment.

Yes, and on 25 February 1994, 29 Palestinians were massacred by a militiant Jewish settler source. We could probably go on for days.

(italics added)

It seems to me that revenge is taking pleasure in killing.

Do you actually have a point?...probably not...I suspect you just posting off topic non-sequiturs because you have a quota to fill in order to remain under consideration for troll of the week.

If you have the link which I provided, you can see that there's been to-ing and fro-ing between the two parties since 1948. If you weren't stupid, you'd understand that the bulldozing is simply another volley from Israel. You can't simply say that if the Palestinians hadn't bombed the Israelis it never would have happened.

However, you're stupid. So you won't get it.

If he's a right-wing apologist, why's he attacking a right-wing entity?

Israel hasn't been trying to destroy the Arab world Mr. Manafizzle, the Arab world has been trying to destroy Israel, all 7000 square miles of it.

When the UN passed Resolution 181 in 1948 the arabs rejected it and armies of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon invaded the new Jewish state, that you characterize as "to-ing and fro-ing". In 1955 Egypt began sponsoring raids launched by fedayeen from the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, and Jordan, into Israel, it closed the Strait of Tiran and blockaded Israeli shipping, that you characterize as "to-ing and fro-ing", in 1960 there were repeated guerrilla activities and shellings of Israeli settlements from the Golan Heights of Syria, that you characterize as "to-ing and fro-ing". In 1967 Gamal Abdul Nasser forced the withdrawal of UN forces from Gaza and Sinai and again blockaded Israeli shipping. Jordan, Iraq joined Syria in its military alliance with Egypt mobilizing their combined forces to Israel's borders, that you characterize as "to-ing and fro-ing". Then when suicide bombers started targetting innocent civilians eating in restaurants or riding buses you counter with Baruch Goldstein, an anomaly, a one-off event and you characterize that as "to-ing and fro-ing". I guess in your utopia Israel should just roll over and not "fro" when the Arabs "to".

All that, and not one mention of what Israelis have done to Arabs.  Balanced reporting at its best. David Brooks would be proud of you.
