There is someone in our area putting up Covid-19 anti-vax stickers. I first saw one in May of this year.

The group behind the stickers (though there may only be one person doing it around here, going by the linked article), the White Rose appear to be world-wide group - I've seen reports of their stickers turning up in Australia - who've nicked the name from a WWII German resistance group. Presumably to appear to be against the 'fascists' in government.

As a Yorkshire born lass I am distressed they are appropriating our county symbol.

I think what is interesting is that the success of public health at preventing outbreaks of major disease means people have forgotten that quarantine restrictions were relatively common. Until recent changes in the law the powers of the medical officer of health in the UK were very extensive, including being able to detain individuals for an indefinite period without any proper right of appeal, close schools and places of work etc, restricting people to their homes. Local quarantines were not uncommon historically and never resulted in any permanent loss of freedom. The powers under public health acts are quite extensive and were never fully enforced during the pandemic.

“The sacrifices your grandparents made in their day are the sacrifices you never knew were necessary.”

I read a great idea today. In Australia everyone’s vaccination status is recorded on myGov, which the Tax Office has access to. How to stop this sort of CT idiocy? Tax the unvaccinated at a higher rate. If they do that here, we would have only the hardcore anti-vaxxers holding out, and go from what will soon be 90% vaccinated to measles-like 99%.
