I saw a bit of this alternative science show last night on the tele. I don't know if it was a repeat, so some might have heard this before.
There were some cool experiments showing various things. The two best ones were wlaking on custard and blowing up a caravan.
The first one was about non-Newtonian liquids (is that right) Apparently custard is one. And they had a guy claim that you could walk on it. So they filled a swimming pool full of custard (it must have taken them a week!) and then this guy just strode on out. I was expecting him to sink a little, maykeb an inch or two. But it held firm under foot like dry cement, except with a little displaced surface water. Then he stoped and start to sink and they could pull him out. Great stuff.
The next one was a test of the urban myth about telephones and petrol stations. The doused the inside of a caravan with petrol and then left about 6 mobile phones scattered around. Then they called all the phones simultaneaously and the caravan exploded (no it didn't I was just kidding
)
But next, they had this bloke put on a bnylon shell- suit and dance in a bucket (to build up static. They had him touch one end of a wire that ledt to the caravan. And kerrrbooom.
So it's OK to fill up with you mobile, but not while wearing nylon tracksuit!
