The mysterious fires in the Silician town of Canneto Di Caronia continue (earlier mentioned in JREF forums here , and more recently on MSNBC here ).

According to the piece on MSNBC, foul play has been ruled out, and the cause still isn't forthcoming.

There are a few interesting things to note here:
  • How readily the paranormal camp (in the form of the catholic church) are willing to come up with a supernatural cause, before the engineers have completed their investigations (which apppear to be on-going).
  • How foul play has been ruled out, just because some policemen saw a wire combust with no visible culprit -- they seem unable to imagine that a human culprit might be able to mess with electrics and then leave...)

The only bit of the story that seems mysterious to me is that a car is included in the "casualties". The story itself even states that the fires have started in fuse boxes and microwaves, which is a dead give away that something is up with the power grid.

As for the car, without more information, one can only speculate. Perhaps there is an interesting geological cause here. From the information in the story I bet it's not though.

On a more positive note, perhaps the demons could be harnessed in a generator of some sort -- imagine that -- trapping evil spirits AND getting abundant free energy!

It seems to be spreading to other parts of the world. CNN.com is reporting that suburbs in Atlanta are exploding!

it was WWII probably to keep the jeep and or truck battery charged. or to make coffee:jaw-dropp
