Congressman Resigns after emails with under-age Page

I wonder if Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC broke the news to the congressman that he had been caught?

Well, they have been using the "it was friendly bantor" defense, but I gotta say, asking for a picture kind of goes a little over the edge of "friendly bantor."

Apparently, there are other emails to other kids asking some relatively explicit questions...otherwise it is hard to see how the emails that have been made public would force a resignation...he must have thought there was another pair of pants to drop, as it were.

You'd think that someone who works so hard to protect children from child molesters would know better than to leave a paper trail.

This is a Congressman we're talking about. Most of his "hard work" was done by his staffers. He has no idea how "teh interweb" works; to him it might as well be magic.

Couldn't figure out how the 'bookmarks' thing worked, so his plan was to use a bent-over page?

OK, I'll stop.

Does he get to go on his state's sex offenders list?

Heard on the radio coming home he was supposed to be a shoo-in to get re-elected. So if the Dems take the House by one seat in November, you can blame it on your friendly neighborhood pervert.

from the article:

ABC News reported Friday that Foley also engaged in a series of sexually explicit instant messages with current and former teenage male pages. In one message, ABC said, Foley wrote to one page: "Do I make you a little horny?"

I'd say an older man asking a minor "do I make you horny?" goes a way beyond friendly banter.

BTW what is a page?
