Clinton has referred to herself as "the most transparent public official in modern times".
:: pause for laughter::

Clinton last held a press conference in 2015.

Hillary Clinton delivered a speech savaging Donald Trump's business acumen and economic plans in Ohio on Tuesday. It was just the sort of address we've come to expect from Clinton during her two presidential bids: deeply researched, well argued and strongly delivered. It also had one other thing that has become a much more disturbing pattern for Clinton the candidate: a total lack of real interaction with the media who cover her.

In fact, today marks 200 days since Clinton has held a formal press conference of any sort. 200!

That article is 11 days old, so we're up to 211 today. Will she make 220? Can she do it??? I have faith the Most Transparent One can hold out for 250, but after 300, I think some opaqueness will start to set in. We'll see!

she'll take a few questions and then go back to her bubble for another six weeks.

The thing is is that she is really bad at "human interactions" or being "a human."

And you are trying to claim Clinton is not transparent ?

Ummmm, ...

If one is actually a transparent public official,

Then one does need to hold formal press conferences.

:dl:

Yes. I don't think she has feelings, at least not in the typical human sense of the word. I keep expecting her to lower her jaw, point a finger at Trump, and howl at him, like Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Why is the Ummmmm there? You're agreeing with me. Transparent public officials hold regular press conferences.

Is she talking to reporters one-on-one? Are reporters traveling on her plane or bus with her? Are they attending her events? I'm not a Hillary fan, but I'm not sure a traditional press conference would tell us much. And considering that any group of "press" now includes bloggers and political hacks, not just reporters from the NYT and CNN, she probably doesn't want to expose herself to "questions" that are really political statements ("Mrs. Clinton, why won't you tell us the truth about Benghazi?," etc.). What do you think we're missing?

Hillary Clinton’s last press conference was held on Dec. 4, 2015, nearly seven months ago.

In lieu of the traditional press conference, Clinton prefers to make appearances on The Ellen DeGenerous Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Rachel Maddow Show -- hosts who rarely ask any challenging questions:

"So let's talk about the fact that you are a grandmother. You have a granddaughter. How old is Charlotte now?" Ellen DeGenerous asked the Presumptive Indictee.

One thing Donald does is hold press conferences. He seems to like them.

(CNN)Donald Trump's press conference tantrum Tuesday -- during which he called one reporter "a sleaze" and lashed out at others for seeking verification of a $1 million charitable gift he claimed to have made to veterans organizations -- is the inevitable result of months of fact-twisting, distortions and outright falsehoods uttered by the candidate on a daily basis.

Not surprised to not see an answer to this.

I forgot about this thread.

She holds "avails" with members of her travelling press corp sometimes. On Hardball, they said Warren is ten times worse when it comes to the press, so I can't, with consistency, say this is a big issues for me, but it does amuse me that Clinton considers herself so transparent.

Sucks she didn't consult with you to ensure your definitions were in sync

You guys think that holding a press conference means a candidate is transparent? Surely, ye jest. Candidates often stack the deck and preselect the reporters and questions and they are just as likely to pivot and not answer the question at all.

There's a risk in only taking softball questions and non-answers can often be quite revealing.

Wasn't there some fake reporter lobbing softball questions to Bush awhile back?

It's not just fake reporters it's mainstream media who are looking for access.

The questions don't necessarily have to be softball, just not questions that are off message. Why would Hillary want to address only questions about emails or Ben Gazi? The problem is reporters are looking to publish stories that pique people's interests, not necessarily report anything of value.

One of the things the Republicans have been very good doing the last 15 years is controlling the narrative. Talking points are published and disseminated weekly and often times it is an attack that every Republican as well as Fox News and Right wing media (talk radio, Rush, Breitbart, Drudge and it tends to spill over to the rest of the media.

Ben Gazzi for example while a tragedy was not what the GOP blew it up to be. The email scandal really is nothing. It might have been stupid, but there is no evidence of any corruption. This isn't Watergate, or Iran Contra or even Scooter Libbey. But oh, the Republicans want it to be. If it was Cheney or Rice that had done what Hillary did they would be yawning.

Take for example the Birther issue. They screamed bloody murderin 2008 that Obama wasn't Constitutionally qualified to be President because they said he was born in Kenya ( although he wasn't) Never mind that there own candidate was born in Panama.

Remember when Republicans were "sure" that Clinton is guilty of something?

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

That damn Clinton is so opaque that she refuses to release her tax returns. Or was that some different candidate? Hmm...
