This week's US News and World report ran a story about how researchers reporgrammed adult mouse genes to become, in effect, stem cells. It goes into more detail than that, but that's the gist of it. I posted the story on my cube wall, and a co-worker commented that stem-cell is unproven to do anything. I don't keep up with the research in depth and since I just accepted the media stories about how fantastic it is, have to admit that he may be right since I have no proof. Therein lies the question: Does anyone know of clinical trials where stem-cell has been proven to reverse degenerative diseases, even if it's just in mice?
