Clear Channel cuts conservative radio show

GASP! They talked to a porn star!!

werethey fired or stoned to death by the Clerachannel/ FCC taliban.

So they cancel a huge national star like Stern and to try and keep the appearance of some kind of balance, they wack a much smaller show that probably wasn't doing so well in the ratings to begin with, I'm guessing.

So?

Ironic that "Regular Guys" are being thrown off the air.

If its the public airwaves, shouldnt the public decide (via ratings) who should stay on?

no, my point and the point is not that they are trying to make there appear to be a balance by doing this...

the point is that this new fcc trend is economically driven....not political.....as a result of disgruntled sponsors from the halftimesaggyboob show.

I really think it's about time that the FCC acted and got these "potty mouthed" people off the air. Perhaps we can now get back to some wholesome radio programs. I for one would enjoy more Paul Harvey, the occasional gospel or patriotic music, and definitiely more Perry Como or Lawrence Welk music.

I'm starting to feel warm and fuzzy all over, and definitely a lot safer from terrorists now that the airwaves are safe for young children. It's those darn liberal "lefties" that has been destroying good radio fare over the years. God bless Rush!

Why would disgruntled sponsers need the FCC??? THey hold the purse strings, if they complain to the station then theres action. Can't have a show wh/o sponsers.

This is just a handful of Jesus freaks trying to dictate to the entire country. Taliban-lite........at least for now.

Oh, is this Jump-on-Kate-Smith week? Great! Better than a trampoline. Jump on Kate and you're launched to the stratosphere. Let's dig up the piano case she was buried in, and get her to entertain the troops.

I'm going to Hell.

Nobody is after Howard Stern. Small-name congressmen are after talk radio, period. Down goes Stern, the rest will follow.

FCC complaint filed over Islamophobic radio skit
Pretend "Muslim" said Iraqi constitution permits sex with animals

CAIR's Southern California office (CAIR-LA) today announced that it has filed complaints with both the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Clear Channel Communications over an Islamophobic skit on a Los Angeles radio station that claimed Muslims have sex with animals, avoid bathing and are obsessed with killing Jews.

So something deemed "Islamophobic" is potentially subject to FCC penalty.

They were mocking the Iraqi constitution as a doomed failure, as 70% of the Muslim world can't function much higher than rock-throwing primatives. At best, they're able to steal first-world technology and try and kill us with it. They can't even drill their own oil without european (mostly german) engineers.

Nobody is after Howard Stern. They are after Michael Savage, Matt Drudge, and Jay Severin who will all be caught in the intentional collateral damage of taking down Howard Stern.

American, You have spoken with the exactly the level of insight and understanding we have all come to expect from you.

This complaint to the FCC will never go anywhere, because bad as they are, they can't pretend to try to regulate this under the banner of indecency, and I don't think they have any other recourse to restrict it.

Just so you understand, someone made a complaint to the FCC. That doesn't mean it'll amount to anything. This isn't a question over who wants who off the air. It's a question of how government power is being abused. So far, only Howard Stern, among the examples you've named, is targeted by the government, for a complaint from a 3 year old broadcast! The Bush Administration, in the guise of Little General Powell of the FCC, is attempting to silence a political critic on the flimsiest of "indecency" grounds. Once they have their new $500K fines, they'll have him, and all other political opponents, by the balls.

As for Clear Channel, they're a private company, and they can do whatever they please in this regard.

You are incorrect! It has nothing to do with Bush or Powell or censoring bad language and indecency. Like anyone would care? The goal is to nuke radio. Stern is in the blast zone, while the real targets (the hosts that I mentioned) will be killed in the fallout. I am correct.

Aw darn. I was sort of hoping Clearchannel'd hang on and get a big fine. They have no principles.

Maybe I'll havta settle for the enjoyment of watching their stock drop. Popcorn anyone?

Clearchannel financed pro-war rallies last year and limit artist's airplay for not towing their corporate line. They are #1 Evil Corporate Entity in my book and I hope they burn in hell surrounded by endless reruns of Gilligan's Island.

Ahh, Howard will find another outlet somewhere after a few weeks vacation.
