He has devised a brand of street art which not only livens up city streets, but removes grime in the process. His method is to take any dirty inner-city wall or pavement, place a template over it and scrub the concrete clean, revealing an image as sharp as any spray paint which fades with time.

A big plus for innovative technique, anyway.

Probably not much worse than scribbling "Clean Me" on a car window, all in all.

As cool as that is, as a US'er...

Smirnoff considers the artist's work a perfect way to reach a teenage market and is keen to commission Moose again. It claims the police were happy with the work's legality.

On this side of the pond, they're still claiming they don't market to teens.

I saw this on Slashdot, and couldn't believe that people were defending this guy. This isn't cleaning up graffiti. This is simple advertisement on someone else's property, without a permit.

Well, they could be doing it with paint, as has been done in the past. As long as they don't use bleaches or dyes; nothing other than very mild detergent, I have no problem with it.
