Christians seek right to sue BBC for blasphemy

I don't know what's worse, that their trying to sue for blasphemy or that there is still a blasphemy law on the books.

"...an offence which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment."

Can you imagine the public reaction if this producer were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison? (Not that I think there is any real chance of that.)

Isn't blasphemy an offense against god? Doesn't he have to bring the suit? I may like my neighbor a lot, but if you injured him, how would that give me grounds to sue?

Nutters.

No. One can file for another.

Might be different in the UK.

By the way, do any of you see the irony I do?

If this suit goes forward, the outcome might be a repeal of that law.

Then what will the plaintiff have achieved? Something about the futility of having gained all the world while having lost something valuable . . .

I am still chuckling. This person is potentially suing to get that law taken off the books, after he gets his cut. :D

Blasphemy, the only truly victimless crime.

I think this development is a good one, though, because the guy can't and won't win, and they will have to address the law. It's only still a law because this sort of thing doesn't happen often.

Is no crazy, anachronistic law safe? Today blasphemy, tomorrow buggery? Where will it all end?

Damn it, there you go again, interjecting logic in all this.

You should be ashamed! :D
