Flocks of the faithful are flocking to the Eagle Pass Police Department to see a mysterious statue of Christ. Police say the statue of Jesus just came floating down the Rio Grande. The statue is now in the department's evidence room.

Because no one has come forward to claim it and because of its mysterious discovery in the river, the Catholic faithful have embraced the statue as a religious message from God.

Border Patrol agents recovered the statue late last month from the Rio Grande. When agents first saw that statue from the air, they thought it was a body and launched a rescue attempt.

Eagle Pass Police Chief Juan A. Castaneda said newspapers across the border in the Mexican town of Piedras Negras are calling it the Christ for the undocumented.

Edited for ... :dl: hahaha I can't go on...

Did anyone check inside the statue for drugs?
The rio grand river is a crossing point for drugs.

I live in the Rio Grande valley, (jst eight miles from the river) and this is not surprising. If there is a buckle to the religious belt we are the garter belt. In San Juan, Texas, we have a shrine to the Virgin Mary (inspired by the legend of an indian peasant who had a vision of Mary and a miracle of her image "magicalyl" appearing on his serrape or cloak.)
They spent over a million dollars of donated money hiring some artisans from Italy to place a huge mural on a facade. The valley is one of the most economicaly depressed areas in the nation.
