Chopra - oncologist?

My dearly beloved seem to be getting a regular supply of spiritually uplifting books from an unknown source (probably her mum). The latest is by this Chopra fellow. I've seen him derided often on these boards but I've not got much firm info.

I'm told he's an oncologist ,therefore his warnings to avoid any forms of alcohol at all costs should be taken very seriously. Really? Is he an oncologist? Does alcohol cause cancer? So far the only observed effect is that my ladyfriend gets an attack of guilt every time she takes a swig of booze.

Thanks guys. I really should have checked Quackwatch first. From what I can tell, he seems mostly to be of the 'be happy, live long' school of nonsense, which I figured to be mostly harmless, and I suppose pleasingly diverting for a certain kind of mind. However when he starts writing things like, 'no alcohol, no flame grilled meats,' he's in danger of stirring up some serious domestic strife!
