That's awful. Much of that continent seems to be in a bit of a fix. I'm not sure about the family though. Was the father a native? He must have been to let his own daughter be shipped back and dropped off there, especially at the advice of a stepmother. Man, I'm going to have to read some funny editorials or comic books to cheer me up - this kind of thing bothers me.

It is hard to weed out irrationality even in the West, despite all our education. Looking at the literacy level of subsaharian Africa, it is obvious witchcraft is there to stay for a long, long time.
