Chick comics

I thought Chick only wrote those awful tracts, but apparently he's the author of the The Crusaders series of comics as well (which look just as amusing). Someone has given me 4 of them, issues 11, 12, 13 and 14, copyright 1979, in very good shape and which appear to have been stored in a plastic book wrap. I'm wondering if there is anyone on this forum collecting this sort of flotsam, if you're interested in owning these fabulous reads, PM me and I'll slide them into an envelope and mail them off to you. They are free to someone who will appreciate them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow! That's awesome.

While I'd love to look at them, I don't actually want them near my home. :P

Use gloves and tongs. Those things can be dangerous.

I know Nova Land is a comic book collector; he might be interested in these!

Ooh! Ooh! I just got PM from Mercutio about this.

I love Chick comics! Both the little tracts, and the full-size comics. And even though I already have way too many comics, I would gladly provide a good home to these.

Let me look those numbers up to see if I already have those issues. If I don't, and if I PM you my home address, would you send them to me? (If so, and if you tell me your taste in comics or books, I should be able to find something suitable to send you as a thank you.)

I just looked Chick's Crusader series up at the Grand Comics Database, and I don't have any of those four issues!

Number 14 looks especially interesting: from the cover, it appears to be some prime Chick Catholic-bashing.

Number 12, Alberto, is another I'm eager to read. Chick (and others in his circle) often make reference to Alberto, who (if I recall correctly) is supposed to be a former Catholic (priest?) who left the church and wrote a book revealing the "truth" about the whole Catholic conspiracy. (The Catholics, as faithful readers of Chick comics and tracts know, were behind virtually every evil in history. There's one Chick comic -- "The Great Betrayal", I think, was the title of it -- which reveals how it was the Catholics who assassinated Lincoln. Not to mention being behind Nazism, Satanism, Communism, and virtually every other ism.)

Have you sought medical help for your unfortunate condition? :p;)

I was mentioning to Nova Land in PM, but you may be interested as well, if you read this far... there is a documentary of Jack Chick. If memory serves, it is called "Could a comic book save your soul?"

There is a 77-minute documentary that you can watch online, about which I started a thread that, mysteriously, no one replied to. A few Chick tract/Chick comic collectors to appear in the film.

I knew there would be SOMEONE on this forum who would be interested in these. I've been meaning to have a poke through them, but I'm not sure if my constitution can stand it, and no one will want them if they're covered in vomit. I made an error, there are actually 5 of them, vol 9 "Angel of Light" is in there as well. It has the BEST cover in my opinion, a demented blonde angel with a four o'clock shadow, hands covered and dripping in blood, surrounded by the signs of the zodiac. I may have to read that one.
Let me know, Nova Land, I'll stuff them in a cardboard envelope, mark them as "German jug porn" (for the amusement of customs) and send them off to Tennessee.

I thought this was going to be about romance comics that was aimed at girls.

I might have read them, in the Christian bookstore my grandparents owned. Gratuitous bloody Apocalyptical porn? Pregnant women being killed by cheesecloth forced down their throats?

OMG yes!! The pregnant woman is Dona Isabella, a cousin to Prince Phillip of Spain, and it's in vol12 "Alberto". These really are completely repulsive propaganda pieces, and even more horrifying (to me) is that they are "recommended reading for adults and teens". A comic book format seems to me to assure that children would probably have expressed an interest in reading them as well. I leaned towards amusement when I read the first one, but now I want to wash my eyes and brain out with bleach.
