Charles Windsor: Follow Islamic principles to save the environment

Ah, he was talking to Islamic scholars, he was just trying to pander to them.

I misread that as "he was just trying to panda them", and had a mental image of him encouraging them to climb into panda suits. "Go on, you'll like it!" he urges. They are dubious, but don't want to be rude, so they do it.

Certainly an Islamic world will be better with the environment. For starters, there will be no Jews left around to pollute the place.

I hope you're not talking about Islamic World, the exciting theme park featuring water slides, rock climbing, and roller coasters. Musical shows, dancing, and fine foods as well! Kids half price on weekdays! Come on down to Islamic World! Like Muhammed says: "I never haj such a good time!"

It makes me think of The Years of Rice and SaltWP, where the UK was renamed "Celtistan". It had a nice ring to it.

The article did not delve into his position on private jets for royalty.

He doesn't have a private jet and the goverment isn't going to get him one. His position on the matter won't change this.

funny how all those Jews lived in Muslim-ruled Spain and Palestine.

Hell, like 60,000 Jews came to Muslim-ruled Palestine from the middle 1800s straight up to 1917.

The Church of England isn't the official state religion of the UK, no. The give away is the name.

Point taken, but it's the official state (or national, if you prefer) religion of England, and I don't think it diminishes ravdin's point any.

I understand Ukans* are sensitive about the multi-national nature of the UK, but given the CoE's participation in Parliament (the specifics escape me at the moment), and the Prime Minister's role in choosing bishops, it seems to me to be a distinction without a difference.

* Sorry. Couldn't resist. :D

No, we're fine about it if we can call all USans "New Englanders" and talk about Mr. Obama as the "President of Delaware".........

;)

Point taken. In case it's not clear, I think the UK and (almost) all of its inhabitants are lovely. I am only mocking one particular Brit with this thread.

I was thinking of G. K. Chesterton's The Flying Inn.

In this book the "multicultural tolerant progressives" of Chesterton's time decide to bring (pre-1914) Ottoman Islamic culture to England, or rather Britain, to help "enrich" it, in particular since the Muslims, like the temperance society of Chesterton's time, are strongly against alcohol drinking and will thus help the "progressive" cause of forcing people to give up this vice.

The result, naturally, is (inter alia) the banning of pubs and the marking of ballots with a cross (they should be marked with a crescent, you see) so as to "not offend the Muslims", with only one man -- the anti-progressive evil racist uneducated idiot who is the hero is the book -- moving around with a pub post to set up places to do unhealthy, unprogressive things like drinking beer and singing songs.

It's becoming closer and closer to reality, as we can see.

Charles Windsor, the billionaire playboy who first in line to inherit the positions of head of state and spiritual leader of the official state religion, on how Islamic principles will save the world from environmental collapse.

Mr. Windsor has clearly never been to Gulf countries like UAE or Qatar, whose carbon footprints are some of the highest in the world (per capita).

I'd quibble with the description of him as a billionaire, and also of the monarch being the spiritual leader of the Church of England; that role is performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. As you've got your information from the Daily Mail, I can understand your inaccuracies. :)

Of course we're going strongly against the most basic Islamic teachings. We have long since endorsed a separation of church and state and accepted that man is not supposed to be a servant to an invisible wizard in the sky, but is on Earth for his own merit. Both are outright blasphemous in Islam.

I really don't see how following Islamic teachings can help us "save the planet". Maybe in the most fundamentalist way possible: if we all reverted to the way Muslims lived in 7th century AD, we would have less impact on our planet.

I really don't see how semi-nomadic camel herding would work in Norway for example, but I guess you can't have all the answers.
Oops, blasphemy again. :(
