NSW Greens MP John Kaye wants child welfare workers to replace school chaplains after the High Court ruled that commonwealth funding of the Government's National School Chaplaincy Program was invalid.

A step forward at last in Australian schools. Now if only we can also get rid of SRE.

Australia hires children to be welfare workers?

OOoh, you mean like 'child welfare' workers. As in what I would class as Social Workers, which is mostly what Chaplains do. I suspect the same folks will sit behind the same desks, with a different title on the door.
