Channel One, the station watched by a lot of children during school, held their own election. Nearly 1.4 million votes cast.

Results are here

Don't hold me to it, but if I remember correctly, they have done this in previous elections and successfully predicted the winner.

Maybe it has something to do with them voting like their parents would.

It will be interesting to see if they're also right this time.

They selected Bush.

Nickelodian did the same thing. In theirs, Kerry won.

They claim one hundred percent success rate in predicting elections, but have only done it for the last 4 elections.

When I was in highschool, Highlight magazine did one. They claimed that they had one hundred percent success rate, and that the children said that Bush would defeat Clinton.

I would say wait until Nov 2nd.

Funnily enough, Nickelodeon did the same thing, making the same claim about picking the winner in previous years, and got Kerry.

(Edit to add: Bah! a tarsier got there first!)

In fairness, Kerry did promis on Nickelodian that he would institute a "2 pizza day a week" policy once in office. I'd like to see him stick to that.

He'd never get the funding past congress.

Unless he provided pizza for them too, maybe.

There are a LOT of "successful" election predictors, and this year some seem to indicate Bush and some Kerry.

But, did you see the number of third party votes? Yowza! More than 10% in places.

Maybe Republican kids are being good and attending school while Democrat kids are home watching Nick.

PS: The Libertarian kids are voting for no school? :D

I'm curious what counties HAVE channel one... are they getting a random sampling of their state's students?

I want to know how many of the students were disenfranchised by having a teacher present at the polls.

When I was in 6th grade we did a mock election at our school. It was for the 91 (or was it 92?) Bush/Clinton/Perot election. Bush won at our school with Perot in second.

My daughter's first grade class voted last week. My darling little offspring chose Bush. When I asked her why, she said it was because "he looks nicer."
