You all remember Ahmed Chalabi, don't you? Darling of the Neo-cons and provider of at least some of the intelligence that led to the invasion of Iraq.

Then he fell out of favor when it turned out most of the intelligence he provided was, well, to be kind, sorta bogus  and that he was way to chummy with the Iranians (IIRC he has a villa somewhere outside Tehran).

Well, HE'S BACK, according to CNN..http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/11/07/chalabi.us.reut/index.html

And not just to meet with his support group...

Chalabi is to meet Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and address the pro-Bush American Enterprise Institute Wednesday, among other meetings and appearances.

Of course, he is also talking to other folks...

Chalabi visited Tehran at the weekend and met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior officials to discuss the Iraqi elections.

I know this may not be proper usage of the word, for which I apologize in advance, but doesn't this character define the word "Chuzpath"??

For your consideration

That snake is the survivor of the year. Gotta give him credit, though, for having such balls. Not quite sure why Washington wants to accomodate them.

Probably because there is a chance..a small one mind you, but still a chance..that due to the infighting and tensions regarding leadership of the new Iraq he could become President/Prime Minister simply because all of the factions can't agree on anybody else.

Which, IMHO, has been his goal all along (and yes, that is speculation, no evidence, but one must wonder)

The only character I can think of with bigger cojones than that is the guy from the first World Trade Center attack. He rented a truck, reported it stolen, loaded it up with explosives and detonated it in the parking garage beneath the WTC. The authorities captured him a few days later when he showed up at the truck rental place and asked for his deposit back.

As for his being in Washington, I'm just going to fantasize about his being called to testify (and be indicted) in the Plame leak case.

Well, at least he's not as bad as that Iraqi guy who was pitching the story of WMDs...oh, wait, he is as bad as that guy....
