CFI joins the Park51 Debate

Wait a second wait a second wait a second. I just noticed some extreme hypocrisy by the CFI. They are lamenting the fact that politicians have turned this into a political issue and yet the CFI is trying to use this as to further their own politics. What a bunch of *********** hypocrites.

Don't worry. When the QVC Homosexual Forced-Abortion Communist Collection is in power, they will be among the first to be purged.

Yeah, I got the same email from CFI, and it took me two hours to regain consciousness from the mega-face palming I'd given myself

They are making the same claim on all religious people that they are chiding as being done to all Muslims. Anytime I see the phrase "should not be built" in place of "disagree with being built" towards the mosque being rennovated is when my bigotry meter alarms. A secular "sacred free zone" is no less bigoted than a non-muslim "holy place." In a very loose way I disagree with any religous building being built but I think they should be built. People want them and religious freedom is important to me. Even if that means people I disagree with are enjoying that freedom.

The right to believe in God, as a concept of law is older than the right not to believe. There can, thus, be no legal barrier to construction of a new place of worship other than the normal zoning and safety requirements. There are already places of worship there. To discriminate between them would be abusive, and to order them all out is illegal.

I consider CFI to be out of line on this, entirely. If you start a religious conflict, which th9is surely would, it almost always ends in a strengthening of the afflicted cult/faith/practice.

They can take a hike.

It seems that CFI actually hasn't gone down the rabbit hole after all...

CFI Releases a Clarification and Revision of Statement on Ground Zero Controversy
The statement issued by the Center for Inquiry on Friday, August 27 concerning the Ground Zero controversy was interpreted by some as calling for a prohibition on the placement of mosques or other houses of worship near Ground Zero or otherwise speaking out against freedom of religion. That was not the intent of the statement and we regret any misunderstanding. A revised statement that clarifies the Center for Inquiry’s position is set forth below. ...

No. That isn't the right smiley you should be using. It should be :hb: because they idiotically got the wrong point. I pissed off at them because while claiming that they aren't jackasses trying to make this into a political scenario they ignore that is exactly what they did.
