Here's some information about our upcoming events:

Wednesday, February 28
CNY Skeptics Monthly Meeting

Speaker: Stan Wilczek, Jr.
Topic: Skepticism and Terrorism: Fact vs Fiction

Business Meeting at 6:30
Program at 7:00

Stan Wilczek is a local author, whose current work "The Kept Secret" is a fictional account about terrorist attacks, and much of the novel takes place in and around central New York. Wilczek graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering and received an MBA from Syracuse University. He is also a graduate of Harvard's Advanced Management Program. He spent thirty years in the nuclear and utility industry and is currently on the adjunct staff at LeMoyne College. A lifelong resident of central New York, he lives there with his wife and children and is currently working on his next book.

Wilczek's technical background and access to information not available to the general public, helped him craft a suspenseful but also technically accurate account of what could happen. His talk will concern the vulnerabilities that we have and will try to shed light on the question "How skeptical should we be?" Have we been lucky, or are we a victim of political hype?

The discussion will also include information on how and why he decided to write the novel and the lessons learned in trying to get published.

If I could do a time warp I'd go. Ah, Onandaga County, the Finger Lakes, and WNYR 98.5 FM radio over there in Waterloo. While I was a jock there, lived in "downtown" Seneca Falls, right across the street from the National Women's Hall of Fame. Such times...
