Ok, so cell phones still do not cause cancer. However a small survey of mine indicates that everyone experiences excessive sweating and a sensation of heat in the ear when talking for a long time.

I tried Googling for the cause of this, but came up with nothing except warnings about cell phones causing instant death.

I have four hypotheses to explain this phenomenon, and I suppose they all contribute to some degree. Can anyone direct me to a real discussion of this? Anyone have any other ideas?

1. Lack of evaporative cooling from ear being covered with an object
2. Power-consuming device generates heat, which conducts to the head
3. Psycho-somatic reaction
4. RF absorption.

After about a minute or so talking, the battery pack begins heating up on my phone. The battery pack is not very far from my ear as the phone is thin and the components appear to be aluminum. Is it possible that the battery is heating up his/her ear?

You are holding your hand against your head. Since your head loses a lot of heat you would expect your ear to heat up somewhat if you hold your hand against it. Try holding something else against your head for a simular lenght of time.
