Many Catholic leaders are openly stating they will not require citizenship checks before giving out services. I saw a fast blurb on this on the news and was kind of confused. Is ID going to be required to give out services that the church gets tax funds for? I can't imagine the government can require ID checks for services the church pays for.

I have to say I'm with the bishops on this one. It's a CHURCH!

Seperation of church and state!

Oh, what tangled webs we weave
When first we practice faith-based initiatives!

If the gubmint is supporting the services, faith-based though they may be, then the bishops are spending my money! If they want to spend just their own money, I would be happy to have my money go to non faith-based supports. They want to have their wafer and eat it too.

I believe they're talking about the faith-based charities that they run -- they don't want to have to comply with the government's rules just because they take government money.

Duh.
