Casey: 'Surge' Could Go Home by Summer

Here's the game: Surge in, get Congressional opposition, surge out, blame the Dems for losing the war by forcing the unsurge. To all you current and future believers that anyone but George Bush is responsible for losing this war: I will be making very insulting comments about your mental abililties and/or honesty.

Every version of this “We will draw down our numbers by X” rhetoric since mid-2003 has had that “assuming order is restored” caveat. And each time, order is not restored, and we go to the “six more months” line. This “surge” nonsense is just the same failed strategy we have had for the last three and a half years, only louder.

You can believe it when they say withdrawing by summer. They have been brilliant at predicting just about every aspect of this battle since before we invaded. The amazing thing is that it has all been like clockwork...so, like a Sylvia Browne prediciton, you can pretty well take this to the bank.

Didn't the Soviets perfect this "flexible" time measurement propaganda with their numerous "5 year plans". I don't any of their 5 year plans ever came to fruition ...

Charlie (GOP 6 months = when Dems fix it) Monoxide

I believe the five year plan for announcing the success of five year plans was pretty religiously adhered to...

OK. So giving a timeline, no matter how rough, of when troops might be withdrawn from Iraq is bad, because all the insurgents have to do is lay in wait until then. However, estimating when the surge will end is just fine....

Huh?

The surge is only the bringing in early of troops that would otherwise be deployed later and an extension of the tour of duty of troops already there. It's just an overlap bump, nothing special.
