we may not be able to put in simple, obvious terms why the laws of physics in our universe behave the way that they do. but to postulate a divine lawgiver is unnecessary and only begs the question, 'what then created the creator?' if your answer is that the creator has always existed, why not skip an unnecessary step and conclude that the universe must have in some sense always existed? you can add god anywhere you like. you can add him to the creases in your testacles. it's just unnecessary.
