They've been asked to stop selling distilled water at exorbitant prices to children while lying that it somehow has a medical benefit.

They don't like this very much.

CHPA views the July 31, 2015 announcements by the Minister of Health and Health Canada regarding removal of health claims and indications for use for children of 12 years of age and under from homeopathic medicines for cough, cold and flu to be a very serious mistake. These labelling changes are a direct contradiction of the widespread endorsement of the use of these products by thousands of Canadian consumers and health care practitioners who have complete confidence in their safety and quality.

Sure but do they work? :(

But, after all it's about informed choice.

CHPA looks forward to informed discussion with Health Canada and other stakeholder organizations with a view to reversing the decision in the interest of informed choice.

I'll give some informed advice. It is worthless.

From cited Globe and Mail article:
Homeopathic products are made by taking a molecule of the illness and diluting it in water over and over again.

Wait, wait, wait.
What the ***** are they talking about?

Haven't you heard of molecules of sickness before?

When you think about it, that actually makes more sense than homeopathic theory. :boggled:

Technically, that description while simplified is correct. According to the "like cures like" theory, you make a remedy from the thing which causes the symptoms you want to cure. If you want to cure bubonic plague, you take a sample from a plague victim. Then you repeatedly dilute it until it doesn't exist any more.

I disagree that it is technically correct.
Does anyone know what percent of homeopathic remedies actually start with a substance that actually causes the precise illness being treated? I cannot imagine that their cold remedies and flu remedies actually start with cold and flu viruses.

ETA
Besides, homeopathy is not at all concerned with the actual illness. There are remedies for coughs, insomnia, joint pain, irritability, muscle pain, and headaches. Homeopaths don't care what illness caused each of those symptoms; they simply claim they can stop the symptoms.

No no, that's incorrect and perhaps I used a bad example. They start with a substance that causes the same symptoms, not something that actually causes the disease itself. For example, to treat the common cold they might start with pepper, because pepper makes you sneeze. See how it works?

From that link:
The Canadian Consumers Centre for Homeopathy, a national homeopathy advocacy group, has created a petition to stop the change and is urging consumers to “swamp” federal Health Minister Jane Philpott with messages about how well homeopathic remedies work for their children. The group did not respond to a request for comment.

One homeopath One prison cell.

Cheaper alternatives welcome.

Yes. To expand on what I said in my ETA, because they are using a specific symptom-causing agent to treat a particular symptom (regardless of the cause of that symptom), it is incorrect (To the point of being misleading) to say that they start with a molecule of illness. At no point in the process do they have even a clue as to what the original illness is. Therefore using the molecule-of-illness analogy gives them orders of magnitude more respect than they deserve.

I have always rather liked a infinitely dilute solution of common chalk to cure a hoarse throat.

Because homeopathy predates modern understandings of illnesses it focuses not on the illness but on the symptoms, but I suspect that they would be even more upset that they only treat symptoms not illnesses.
