Can you tell the difference between quotes from the Bible and the Quran?

I got 6 out of 7.

I liked the idea of this, especially the last one with a third option. More interesting examples could have been found, and more religions could be included (something from Far East, for example, and does scientology have a Holy Book, etc.).

If anyone cares to organize more of this here at JREF forum (I know, this is NOT JREF forum), I will appreciate the effort. And it puts the E in.... well never mind.

Yup, 7 out of 7. I was completely familiar with the Bible quotes, so anything I didn't recognise was clearly Quran. I even got the bonus question.

I did have a false start when I assumed that the two options would be in the same order in all questions, so I got the answer wrong on a question not because I didn't know the answer, but because the buttons had swapped sides and I clicked the wrong one.

Clicked random except last one as it was too tempting not to click Donald: 5/7

I did the same thing, thought Quran and saw I'd accidentally hit the Bible answer. I gave myself credit.

both, the objective of the quiz was obvious and I know the quotes. easy peasy,

it was frankly over the nose. I did not even *think* i just knew in advance that pretty much the negative quote would be from the bible and the compassionate one from the Quran. This is always the case with such comparison on polls on internet, or the other way around (only harmless bible quote, and the other way around for Quran).

What would be a MUCH better comparison would be a robot gathering the quote people are using in political decision or political discourse, especially the demagogic one , eliminate all other source than those, then count all quotation from both side and take the 7 topmost and compare both.

Yes, I had the same happening, even though I had read your post before making the quiz.

Pretty silly cherry-picked set of quotes. Proves absolutely nothing of course.
I agree mostly. It does prove one point: those who argue that the vile stuff in the Bible is only in the OT and has been abrogated: the misogynistic quote #4 is from Paul. The "Slaves submit yourselves to your masters" is from 1 Peter. Plus see below.

Someone linked to a video of two blokes trying this on the general public, I'll see if I can find the link again.

Yes, it was in the news here yesterday. Pretty funny. Years ago, when this Islam debate had started with Wilders and all that, a serious Dutch news show quizzed a couple of politicians on some evil quotes. To her credit, it was only a Christian-democratic politician who roundly said "could be both". The others just assumed the quotes were from the Quran.

These kind of quizzes, however unscientific, do show that there's prejudice against Islam and that Christians don't even know what's in their own holy book. I bet these kind of quotes don't get discussed in Sunday school, for those who go there, or during a church service/mass.

It could happen to anyone. We ended up with George W. Bush as President due to similar errors.

7/7

It wasn't that hard once you realize what they were trying to prove. All of the ones that were "positive" in some way were from the Quran. The "negative" verses were all from the Bible. The one that was the most displeasing was Donald Trump.

Also, even though we are dealing with translations, the style is very different.

Seven of seven here as well. Helps to have read the Bible. Transparent of course, although it's a point some might find worth making.

I'd think it sillier if it were not in the context of this presidential campaign and the alarming paucity of thought that seems to to accompany it.

7/7 here too. If one has seen the movie 12 Years a Slave, one question was a gimme anyway, as the movie (and book) featured one of the quotes in a dramatic moment. But, yeah, not really randomly chosen.
