I've got a fairly powerful desktop back home that's been sitting around doing nothing (haven't had the time and mood to play Civ4, and I don't have any other games for it, yet), and some posts on Good Math, Bad Math and Pharyngula got me to thinking about evolutionary algorithms and the programs that run them. I could leave one of those running and check in on the program every once in a while.
The problem is that I tried a couple, but they didn't have a simple interface. I could probably figure them out if their readmes weren't horribly formatted.
So, anyone know an evolution program that's easy for a not-so-techie person to start up?
Preferences:
I'd like a program that's modelled on the idea of the creatures having to collect food, rather than just being fast: I only want my critters to be fast if it helps them beat their competitors to the food.
Would also like uneven terrain: I'd prefer a world that's more than one big checkerboard.
