A new video card to my existing system?

I have been pottering along quite happily for the last few years with my Dell 2350. It is decidely unspecial (2.4 GHz, 1G RAM) but has met my needs, largely because I'm not a huge game player.

However Civ 4 is now out, and Mrs Camillus has purchased it for me (plus Rome:TW has been waving at me from the shelves for some time) but unfortunately my on-board graphics card can't cope with these newer games.

The big question though is whether I can fit a new card to my current system. I'm pretty from the documentation that I can't fit an AGP card but can I fit a PCI Express and get it to work?

Assuming I can fit a new card any suggestions about good ones to get are also gratefully accepted (my budget is up to about £150.00, maybe a little over).

Cheers

Your link brings us to a registration screen, but I will make a Ass-u-me and say that you are getting PCI and PCI Express confused, They are not interchangeable.

If you don't have a AGP slot, then any PCI Video card that can handle DX9 should be ok, but won't be as fast as a AGP (or PCI Express for that matter)

Camillus, based upon the documentation you linked to, your only video card upgrade option is PCI (not PCI Express or PCIE as it is sometimes referred to). Unfortunately NewEgg does not ship outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico, otherwise I would recommend them for purchasing a card. EVGA and PNY are both good brands. Just about every new video card sold these days has at least 128MB of memory, so that is one major factor to consider.
