Camping Admits He Was Wrong

I was expecting that camping would say: ''It's not a big deal that my prediction failed. That's not the end of the world.''

After May 21 came and went, many listeners were crestfallen, particularly those who had quit their jobs or donated some of their retirement savings or college funds to get out the word. Three days later, Camping revised his prophecy, saying that Earth actually would be obliterated on Oct. 21. He said a mathematical error also prevented an earlier apocalyptic prediction from materializing in 1994.

"...although I am very old I will devote my remaining days to repaying those who put their trust in my word, and teach and encourage more critical thinking among the faithful"

Yeah, just kidding on that last quote.

Well he hasn't any other option left to him now, so this is hardly news.

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away
