This year my goal was to get involved in the local skeptical movements in the Dallas area, whatever it took. I've been very lucky in that regard to have met some fantastic people (David and Rodrigo and Scott and Susan to name a few) involved primarily in the skeptic side of things.

I find there are huge numbers of people involved in the Freethought community here, with groups of 400 or more members. Atheist organizations are scattered throughout the metroplex and are thriving quite well.

I am primarily interested in the science and critical thought avenue of things, and I was very lucky to be invited to speak to the North Texas Skeptics group a couple of months ago. The group is small (15-20 people) and making strides to getting things up to the digital age.

It has always been the type of person that I am that I strive relatively single-mindedly towards my goals, and I wanted to announce my goals here to encourage anyone else that wants to get involved to contact me, or the NTS group, or I can put you in contact with some of the officers and founders of these groups or protests movements we're working on.

My goals are to do the following (with the help/support/guidance of NTS and my friends)

- Drag North Texas Skeptics into a more digital format to broaden the availability and garner public interest.
- Complete my Richard P. Feynman library for public access on weekends to people interested in borrowing/reading science and skeptical literature.
- Organize a Dallas Skeptics in the Pub
- Present paper on Teaching Critical Thinking in Texas at TAM8
- Publish article in Skeptical Inquirer about Critical Thinking in the Texas Public School System
- Gather people willing to actively protest through letter writing campaigns and public picketing of events like WBC, psychic readings, scientology, and other harmful woo.

So, short of painting my face blue and riding around on a horse with a flag, this is my public call to skeptics of the Dallas area and the surrounding metroplex. GET INVOLVED! Join us, we can do more in great numbers than we can do sitting at home and complaining about the ignorance of the world.

Hi Jayme, I'm in Dallas, and am interested, but my schedule with my two boys keeps me busy.

And do I know who you are? What do you think of Doktor Kaboom?

You might know me, I'm a huge fan of Dr Kaboom! I took my group of students from GP Science Club to see his show this last December. You can find me on Facebook if you look me up I have tons of photos in case you've seen me around. I'm also a Scarborough Faire regular, my roommate is one of the big cast members out there.

A few months ago my third-grade son was just gushing about this science guy he had seen at his school, and his name was Dr Kaboom. He went on and on and told me everything that he did.

The very next day I was listening to a podcast and the lady guest-host mentioned that she was going to see him, or just had, or something, and that everyone should if they get the chance. The fact that my son had just told me about him the previous evening made it stick in my memory.

Anyway, I took a shot in the dark, thinking you may be who I had heard on the podcast. It wasn't in the complete dark, because I had the info in your OP above, and the info I recalled from the podcast, and they seemed to go together.

I'm one of the rotating co-hosts for Dogma Free America, and I might have said something about it on that podcast, or my own podcast Suckerpunch, if you listen to either of those.

Also, if you ever do have a chance to see Dr Kaboom, do yourself a favor, he's fantastic!!
