Bush flip flops on global warming?

In its report to Congress on the research, the administration said the studies did not "make any findings of fact that could serve as predicates for regulatory action."

So yes, but also kinda sorta not really.

Basically, "Ok, you guys are right about global warming being caused by humans, but we're not changing our position on what to do about it."

I think sometihng should be done about it. I think there are other technologies that show promise. I am not sure Koyoto (SP?) is the answer.

Maybe it could be said that Bush is moving too slow. However, I think it's a political card right now.

I'm not drinking honest. I know that the info is in there but I can't find it. I've read it twice. Could someone help a fellow JREF resident who is down on his luck (intelectually). What exactly does the article say that shows Bush might have flopped?

Can we just discuss whether or not this is an about-face politically?

Bush Administration in 2000: The question of whether global warming is caused by human influences is not resolved and needs more study.

Bush Administration in 2004: New study says temperature rise since 1950 likely caused by human activities.

Silicon in 2004: Is this a flip-flop?

Aerocontrols: You're kidding, right?

But the science is not exactly hard core in this area. There is some change due to our activities, but no one is sure what that change is or how severe it will be.

Some say that we will freeze because ocean current will slow or stop which will stop the flow of heat from the tropics to the north.

Some say that the gass will trap more heat and cause a Green house effect.

Some say that the polution has shaded the sun out and the sun actually shines less bright. (Causes colder temps and crop failure)

Some say the Ozone will be gone and. . . .

I think that all these ideas have some merit. To what degree is the question. Weather men can't reliably predict the weather more than one hour ahead.

The people are apparently not convienced because they have not presured their representatives to help other technologies.

How about pushing more auto makers to hurry up.

People still buy their SUV. Except now that the gas prices are high, sales have slacked off.
