Keeping in mind that 78%of what emerges from the Donald's mouth is a lie - or at least demonstrably false,... and he knows it - I chalk this up as more shameless pandering to a shrinking base. This of course exactly the opposite of what he should be doing.

Trump couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it. "Half of the columns" in the basement of the WTC were NOT blown out after the bombing of 1993. So either he's incorrectly remembering what he saw, or he was never taken on a tour of the WTC basement at all, any more than he ever sent a team of investigators to Hawaii to check out Obama's birth certificate.

Whilst I have little issue with calling Trump dumb for parroting conspiracies like the birther movement I see no indication from the videos that he actually believes no planes were involved. His remarks suggest that he couldn't understand how the planes could penetrate the buildings as hard as they did, and that the hijackers must have had bombs on the planes to facilitate the damage. Seen and heard his remarks in the past about it... the truth movement likes to take any measure of lack of understanding to twist a story into their narrative. This happens to be one such case...

Although I would even call his lack of understanding baseless, and rightly so...

Fittingly at the same time Dump was refusing to go on Glenn Beck's program because that guy is an idiot, a loser, and has no good ratings. Anyway, Trump actually said to Jones "Your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down.” WHAT? Just going on that show should have sunk his chances at the presidency. What he said should have left his run dead in the water... Picking out something from 15 years ago really is going too far. But, American politics are currently, to use a buzzword from yesterday, "horrifying"

It suffices to note that he is dramatically mistaken on the state of the basement columns. No need to insinuate conscious deception where mere incompetence explains the mistake well.

Memory is a very malleable thing. 1993 is eight years before 2001. Suppose Trump was indeed shown the damaged area: He may honestly remember it was the day after, when in fact it was weeks or months later when it was again safe to go there and just before scaffolding and other construction equipment was removed. He may honestly remember seeing broken columns when in fact he saw columns that were stained, or had some cladding removed for inspection, or something like that.

Fact of the matter is, no tower columns were even involved. The bomb was actually parked under the Marriott hotel. The hotel was closed for almost 2 years due to the damage.
