Classic fallacy, they have murderers who are breaking the law already and they pass a second law to make it more illegal to murder with a firearm instead of cracking down on the types of crimes during which the murder are committed.

Instead of solving the root of the problem, they try to shore up the numbers by making it harder to obtain the most used weapon.

There is a train boarding for a trip to Brazil, and it goes chikka chikka chikka chikka WOO WOO.

They are clearly tired of the "everyone can be armed" model, as the country already has one of the highest rates of homicide in the world.

Well, they are moving to a "only the government and lawbreakers" model versus an "everyone" model. They are leaving the guns with the two groups I trust least.

That is the case in Austalia, and we have a much lower rate of violence. The governments are working very hard, with the backing of the majority, to keep it that way, despite the surging popularity of guns with young men, the group you most want to keep guns away from.

Face it, the current model is just not working in Brazil. They are trying something different, and who can blame them with their disastrous crime rate.

If the problem is as pervasive as they make out, it might turn their population into predators in prey. I hope this isn't the case.

I work with a guy who recently moved here from Sao Paulo.

He says there are parts of the city where the cops refuse to go at night. They go there in the morning to remove the bodies.

The gangs are pretty much in charge here. I'm sure they'll be the first ones heading down to the police station to turn in their firearms..............
