Braided brake lines for motorcycles

I am a new rider, and have recently heard about braided brake lines. My initial thought was along the lines of whatever little change in the expansion of the brake line couldn't possibly be very (if at all) noticable. I have seen a few opinions on motorcycle boards, though, where my thought was in disagreement with others. Since "feeling" is not exactly objective, are there any actual tests of braided lines' effects?

--Edit changed "cables" to "lines" since, well, they aren't cables!

I wouldn't know about tests ... but what are they meant to offer? Better response? Better longevity? quicker response? more reliability?

I'm sure designing a test for any claim would be quite cheap and easy ...

Motorcycle brakes are hydraulic, usually through plastic/rubber lines to the pistons at the brake itself. Braided lines are supposed to limit the flex and distortion in the line to tighten the response and "feel" of the brake lever.

Yeah, I figured such a test would be cheap and easy, which is why I was hoping that there might be a few already out there.

The whole thing smacks vaguely of the stereo component things in the commentary a few weeks back.
