The Boy With Divine Powers & Born Again Buddhists - Premiers August 27 at 7.30pm

Above is from a TV column in Australia. I'm never sure with Disovery Channel, but the advertising blurb I just heard a few minutes ago on the tube seemed to be saying that there are now so many reincarnated Lamas and other thinkers that there's now a surplus of monks. (Might be a big marketing opportunity there! I'm sure Richard Gere would take a few of them off their hands.)

Has this show aired in Europe or the Americas yet? Has anyone seen it?

Below is from the same preview mentioned above. ".... and managers"???? There's got to be a million bucks in it if we can get verifiable footage and testers in there - it should be pretty easy to prove whether the kid has a drink of water FOR SIX YEARS.

A meditating teenage boy in south-central Nepal is drawing the attention of scientists after attracting huge crowds in the past six months and earning himself the name Buddha-reincarnate. They are mulling over how to examine him without disturbing his meditation. Ram Bahadur Bamjan's friends, relatives and managers say he has been meditating without drinking water for six months now and that he will carry on for another six years until he gains enlightenment.

Well, some people are easier to fool than others.

The Buddha Boy finished his meditating some time ago now. He ran away with a girl in the middle of the night.

Fer shure? (I'm a little thick-headed when it comes to sarcasm - I take everything literally.) Any links?

My motive? I'm getting ready to go whup-ass on Discovery. I don't care that they do scripted reality stuff - it's entertaining, after all. But they are pushing the envelope with a lot of their crap on psychic detectives and theoretical outcomes of historical events and such. They take good concepts and even good documentaries and add stupid over-dubbed comments more and more with each passing season.

...KATHMANDU, Nepal -- The 16-year old teenager Ram Bahadur Bomjon, who had been meditating without any food or water in the jungles of Ratanpuri village in Bara district, and had disappeared under unknown circumstances in the early hours of Saturday morning, has still not been found.

...“It is learnt that a local resident Sahila Tamang has accompanied him,” the officer said.

He became enlightened a little earlier than expected. :D

Ah, the powers of the never-ending quest for nookie.
Thanx - now if I can get Discovery Channel to meet me under the train trestle with chains and zip guns.....

They really are getting reprehensible. They air this crap everywhere. The above advert is from Australia. I just saw the advert in Hong Kong and it's not airing until Sep 3. They'll be passing this drivel off for about a year; that post says it was March when he went off.

Thanks again, gang!
